About

Callum is a versatile multi‑instrumentalist, composer and educator based in Scotland.
He has performed across the country in a wide variety of musical contexts — from sold‑out shows with the acclaimed Tinderbox Orchestra at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, to appearances at major venues such as the Usher Hall, the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, and some of the UK’s biggest festivals including Kelburn Garden Party and Hidden Door. In 2025, he also had the opportunity to perform alongside Ed Sheeran as part of a 100-piece youth ensemble during the launch of the Ed Sheeran Foundation, supporting a national campaign for accessible music education.
Alongside his work as a performer, Callum brings over a decade of experience as a music educator, delivering both group workshops and one-to-one lessons to students of all ages and abilities. His teaching spans a wide range of styles and instruments, with a focus on creativity, confidence, and musical expression. Whether working in schools, community projects, or private tuition, he is passionate about helping others discover and develop their unique musical voice.

At the heart of Callum’s creative work is his role as guitarist and composer in the band Slow Karma, an Edinburgh-based collective blending jazz, electronic, funk, and improvisation into a bold, genre‑fluid sound. With their boundary‑pushing approach and high‑energy live shows (often featuring 14 or more performers), Slow Karma has become a cornerstone of Edinburgh’s musical ecosystem.
Highlights include sold‑out headline shows at The Voodoo Rooms, regular appearances at The Jazz Bar, and a growing catalogue of original music — including their acclaimed single Price Check, featuring Glasgow-based rapper Jurnalist.
Beyond performance, Callum is deeply committed to community music and education. He spent eight years working with Dads Rock Academy, one of Scotland’s leading family music organisations, helping to support young people and families through music lessons, group projects, and mentoring. He continues to work with groups like the Tinderbox Collective, using music as a tool for empowerment, creativity, and connection — helping young people discover their voice and build confidence through collaborative music-making.
